Waiting ... is okay.

Rushing, hurrying, scrambling around for whatever it may be ... lately it's been toilet paper and paper towels ... Clorox wipes and canned goods. Afraid that items will become inaccessible ... is that why people are scrambling for them? If it's not these items, it will be something else. The newest phone, latest video game, coolest car, hottest fashion statement ... I've got to have it!

Then there's the letdown when it's sold out and you have to wait. Waiting ... and having to watch the ones that got it enjoy it. The thing is, there is always going to be something new and better ahead.

I've learned and continue to learn the reasons for the waiting and detours I've taken in life. During some of them the waiting was long, but the reward far outweighed the memory of it. Some detours were short, and then I was right back on the road. But God was showing me things about myself during each one of them.

This sunset was worth the wait ...

There's one thing in this life that's infinite and abundantly accessible to you, and that's God. You'll never have to wait, rush, hurry, scramble or be let down when you desire to be in His presence. Jesus Calling's devotion today says, "In Me you are complete. It is impossible for you to have a need I [God] cannot meet. Things that are visible are brief and fleeting, while things that are invisible are everlasting."

For me, I don't feel like I'm on a detour during this time of my life, but I'm waiting. God is writing a chapter for not only my life and yours, but our nation, that will be told to our grandchildren and great-grandchildren of how we reacted during this pandemic. What story will be told?

What comes to my mind is the Azusa Street Revival that took place in Los Angeles, California, led by William J. Seymour, an African American preacher, that began with a meeting on April 9, 1906 and continued until roughly 1915. This was the beginning of the modern day Pentecostal Movement. Today there are more than 500 million Pentecostal and charismatic believers across the globe and it is the fastest growing form of Christianity.

They didn't have a pandemic in 1906, but they had a movement ... an international movement, across the globe. What we are experiencing is across the globe. People of all faiths and nationalities are coming together, praying together, worshipping together and I believe calling on the same God to heal our land. God is doing a work! I believe it! Ephesians 3:20, says:

"Never doubt God's mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you."

There’s a saying, home is where life begins and love never ends. Terri's childhood home, where her mother still lives, is filled with her mama’s love, the memories of her daddy, and Jesus. The home became her refuge at a time in life when she needed to heal...
